THE 'COME AS YOU ARE' WAR - ARE YOU READY?
We are, like or not, in a war.
Our government has declared it so.
Worse, it’s a different kind of war, with an unseen enemy that can strike anywhere, anytime.
It’s a war that was unscheduled, an unexpected war. The war the US Army has predicted for years: you fight with what you have at the instant of the attack, and with the skills you have. Called the “Come as You Are” war, it’s why you have to be ready, NOW.
The enemy in this war is stealthy enough to be anywhere, his goal to attack symbols of America. We are told: expect a different attack next time, against a different kind of target, with the only commonality being that the target will be a symbol of America, one very hurtful, and one easy for the terrorists to hit.
Strike at the heart of America? Suppose they seize and blow up a school in small town America. Would that shake us up? What a message: no place is safe; our children are not safe. What a disruption to our way of life, and our sense of security.
You can choose not to fly (even though flying is probably safe again), but your kids have gotta go to school.
Maybe not. Maybe the educational system will be disrupted for months while additional security is found - if you can protect 10,000 schools.
And why wouldn’t they go for it?
Thanks to our liberal friends, those big, fat, juicy school buildings full of young Americans are ‘weapon-free zones’. Once you get past the sleepy deputy out front (if one is there), you are ‘home free’, and you’ll certainly bring enough compatriots to block every exit. Spread a little fuel throughout the school, and you have one huge fuel-air bomb to touch off.
All thanks to the liberal mindset: The more valuable the target, the more fanatic they are preventing firearms from protecting it.
Draw a picture of a gun, or point your finger ‘like a gun’, and ‘zero tolerance’ has you out on the street. Who needs educating more - the kids, or the principals and teachers?
So in this war, YOU had better (and this realization has not really taken hold) be prepared. That small town could be YOUR small town, and it could be YOUR kids’ school.
The ‘rathunt’ that has started is designed to smoke them out of their holes, and get them running, and guesses as to how many are in this country range up to the hundreds - but who really knows? And where are they going to run to? Maybe to that lonely farm just down the road. Or maybe your house will be picked to be their ‘safe house’.
What you do know is that they are smart and deadly.
It’s one of those situations like lightning, where a strike is phenomenally rare, but phenomenally deadly.
You protect yourself against lightning, and you’d be silly not to protect yourself against terrorists.
So again, the question: Are you ready? Ready mentally and physically? Ready with the skill to defend yourself, your family, your home?
The weapon-free zone in the educational system and now in the aviation industry illustrates the fallacy of the concept for protecting high-value targets. Why do you think that they feel free to come to this country, a country with 200 million guns? Because the liberals have made sure that wherever there is a ‘high-value’ target, there is also a ‘gun-free’ zone. [It’s only a prelude to the entire country being, in due time, declared a ‘gun-free’ zone.]
Fortunately for you, your home, which in your world is THE highest value target, is NOT a weapon-free zone. And you are not an idiot. You have a gun to defend it. But you need the skill to shoot it effectively, and if you don’t have it, NOW is the time to make time to go to the range. And take your neighbor with you. He’ll appreciate the opportunity. And maybe you’ll have a friend if the time ever comes.
But if you do not learn to shoot it effectively, well, maybe you are an idiot.
Fred’s Helps Out
As America gets ready, for the duration, we’ll waive our minimum order of $25 for anyone buying the $16 target set with Fred’s “Guide to Becoming a Rifleman.” You wanna learn how to shoot your rifle like a pro, to be able to take down a threat, then, brother, jump aboard, and get with the rest of your fellow Americans who are getting ready. Don’t wait until they are pulling into your driveway before trying to learn to load and shoot your rifle.
A Shotgun and Pistol War?
Riflemen and would-be riflemen might have to make room for shotguns and pistols. A rifle is designed for long-range work, and mighty effective it can be, in the hands of a skilled rifleman.
But for short-range, in-your-face work, like an unforeseen confrontation with terrorists, the pistol and the riot shogun can be mighty effective.
Boston of Boston’s Gun Bible says it right: Your rifle gets in the way in everyday activity, whereas a pistol can be carried at all times with no problem. If the time comes, it’ll be at hand; you use it to shoot your way to your rifle.
Movies to the contrary, face-to-face confrontations are not a good idea with pistols. If forced into it, you take what action you can on the spot, and, if there are too many to handle with the pistol, break for your rifle and some open space, so you have time to deal with them beyond their effective range.
True Liberal Insanity
The radio announces today that the area in a one-mile radius around Chapel Hill, NC will be a ‘no fly’ zone this weekend for a football game. The city honchos made the request to the FAA, which approved it. Later, on the national news, it was announced that 3-mile ‘no-fly’ zones would be established around sporting events all over the country.
Do you see the fallacy of this?
Maybe you should ask what the penalty would be for a suicide-piloted plane which violates the ‘no fly’ zone and crashes a sporting event.
Picture the energetic FAA enforcer arriving on the scene, spotting the body of the suicide pilot still strapped in his seat, hands rigidly charred to the flight controller. What’s the inspector to do? Pull out his ticket book, write out a citation, and stick it in the armpit of the charred corpse? “There, big guy, this’ll serve you right! I’ll be seeing you in court, pal! You think you can get away with it, just because you’re dead? Well, think again! You’ve violated the no-fly law, and there’s a big fine involved. You may even lose your license to fly.” (Big deal, the lifeless corpse mutters to itself.)
What we have here is obeisance to the liberal notion that to solve a problem, all you have to do is pass a law.
With this approach, if the FAA had simply ordered a ‘no fly’ zone around the WTC prior to 9/11, everything would have been all right - right?
Now you and I, being oppressed gun owners, understand that passing a law does not stop crime. Only brute force will do that. The criminal will use a gun to rob a bank, murder someone, etc - and he’s not worried about violating any gun laws while he’s doing it. Those laws impact only on YOU, the law-abiding citizen.
The only reason those gun laws exist is to harass law-abiding citizens, and make liberals feel go-o-od - helping bootstrap us into civilization, like those bloody European nations they are so infatuated with. Mr. Criminal simply plea-bargains ‘em away and laughs in their face. But they don’t care - it’s YOU they are after
You could argue that the more of those laws there are, the more uneven the playing field in an encounter with a felon, but you won’t find a living liberal who will agree, or even agree to listen. Forget their self-serving palaver about tolerance and diversity, even ‘sensible’ ideas will not break through their ideological skulls. (See MV’s letter below.)
Those nationwide ‘no-fly’ zones can be best described, if you are charitable, as eye-wash for PR purposes.
Certainly no suicide-bomber is going to pay any attention to it, and by the time his plane is 3-miles from impact (as little as 18 seconds), nobody - FAA, military, whatever - is going to catch him, much less stop him, unless they are right on his tail as he passes into the no-fly zone - an unlikely eventuality.
We don’t need this kind of liberal foolishness when we are at war. It will only get people killed.
It’s to the point where you want to ask, “are these people insane, or what?” (Note that JPFO addresses this issue in their latest ‘comic’. You may want to get a copy at www.jpfo.org - as usual, these guys are cutting edge, out ahead of everyone else.)
It’s time for the liberals to go.
[The suggestion was made locally to declare Ramseur a weapon-free zone: No large commercial aircraft, no plastic picnic knives (or forks!), no razor blades, and no plastic handles. Just firearms.]

To the Editor, The Washington Times
RE: Liberals NEED Guns (They Just
Haven't Figured It Out Yet)
While your editorial "Guns & Stiff Upper Lips" was absolutely on target about the abject failure of victim disarmament in Great Britain, this is merely one more inconvenient fact to be ignored by the gun control crowd and their media lapdogs (TWT excluded, of course). For two decades I have argued the facts, logic, history and law of the Second Amendment with uncounted liberals without changing one mind.
These days, I do not waste my breath. When some pompous advocate of victim disarmament is impolitic enough to announce for gun confiscation in my presence, I merely nod my head, pause, and then apologize to him in advance that I will be forced to kill any number of people, including perhaps him, to maintain my liberty if his policy is adopted.
I point out that in order to get my guns he will have to kill me, my family and all my friends. I further observe that if even ten percent of American gunowners feel the way I do, he's going to have to kill upwards of 8.5 million of his fellow citizens to implement his proposal, and that doesn't count all the gun-grabbing pukes like him that we'll kill in righteous self-defense before we meet our Maker, and we intend to make that more than a one-to-one ratio.
I conclude by asking them, "Is gun control worth your life, and that of millions of others? If not, shut up. But if so, you'd better arm yourself. You're gonna NEED a gun."
Even so, I thank the Lord every day for the unintended consequences of British gun control. Without it, we wouldn't have a country or a Constitution. General Gage's troops weren't out at Lexington and Concord looking for printing presses. And the Minutemen weren't so foolish as to arm themselves with picket signs. Tyrants don't care what their
subjects think, but they are scared to death of people who possess the tools of resistance and the will to use them. MV, AL
Like I say, it’s time to send the liberals packing. It’s the kinder alternative. Reading MV’s letter takes you right back to the ‘fire in the belly’ of 1775! The fire you need to have! Get some!
“Fred, You’re Right...”
Hello Fred,
I have been reading Shotgun News for several years and always enjoy the commentaries that accompany your ads. I have not always agreed with them but I always enjoyed them.
Until this past year my only 308 rifles were an old Spanish FR8 and my Remington 700PSS. I own a variety of other weapons including Enfields, AKs, an SKS, an AR15, etc. and figured I had my bases pretty well covered.
I decided to buy an FAL this year because the prices are good and mags and ammo are cheap. It has been a fine rifle. It's very reliable but not as accurate as I would like.
2 days ago I happened to be in the right place at the right time and purchased a Springfield Armory service grade M1A for a VERY good price. Too good to pass up. It is a pre ban and is in like new condition.
I shot it today and I finally understand what it was you've been talking about all of these years! This rifle is a revelation! My FAL may well go on the auction block. With surplus ammo I was able to make consistent hits on the head sized gong at 300 yds. from a good rest position with iron sights. I like my FAL and my AK and my AR but the M1A is truly the tool of a rifleman. It's precision, consistency and firepower are second to none. I am converted MT, email
Mike, glad you got a super rifle! I dunno about your FN. Usually, FNs and M1As are pretty close in accuracy, so maybe you just got a bad one. But anyway, now work on becoming a rifleman, and get your friends and neighbors enlisted in the fight! You need to!
