Fred On The Firing Line
"Fred" on the firing line at Riverside Gun Club, about to once again show "the boys" how to shoot. Note the synthetic stock in the ambush pattern. Also note: Mag in, command "LOAD AND BE READY!" received, and getting ready to fire on the 500 yard "Sniper" target. How do you know? Notice the scoped bolt-action on the line in the background. If this were the "Speed" shoot, that rifle would NOT be on the line. Also, Fred wouldn't be looking over the rifle; no sir, he would be hunkered down behind those sights, ready to let one go the instance the targets come up. Yes, the rumors you've heard are true; Fred recently set a new range record at RGC! 8 popups at 200 and 300 down in 16.XX seconds in 8 shots! [He has since pushed it down to 15.22, but the record is 14.XX! You never get ahead sitting still!] Also note that, true to the "Rifleman" ethos, Fred is shooting ball surplus ammo - see the 5 rounds in the stripper clip next to his elbow?
P.S. The guy in the foreground is setting his iron-sighted AK aside in favor of his scoped SKS - it's a good shot out at 500, but if you do your job, the SKS will do its job! |
